It’s been a typically busy period for Telefónica O2 Germany. Here, we give you all the latest news in our regular round-up section.
Telefónica O2 Germany has been named Germany’s top employer in this year’s Great Place to Work Institute survey.
The company triumphed in the category for companies with more than 5,000 employees, following up its third-place finish in 2009.
“We achieved this goal thanks to the outstanding commitment of staff who gave their all for the success of the company,” said Markus Haas, managing director, Corporate and Legal Affairs.
Markus accepted the award on behalf of CEO René Schuster, who added: “We see the satisfaction of our staff as the basis for our business success.”
Italian model Vanessa Hessler travelled to Munich to launch the latest Alice advertising campaign.
HanseNet joined the Telefónica Group in February.
The German telecoms company will continue to be run as a separate entity headquartered in Hamburg, from where it will manage its DSL business under the Alice brand.
Telefónica O2 Germany CEO René Schuster said: "Together we will change the German telecoms market. We stand for innovation, growth and progress.”
With HanseNet, Telefónica O2 Germany aims to become one of the leading integrated telecoms enterprises in the German market.
“Our goal is growth, said its CEO Lutz Schüler. “Together we will offer our customers real added value with innovations and integrated offerings.”
Following a trial run in six O2 shops, Alice will be on sale in 71 shops and partner shops in German cities by 10 May.
So, for the first time in Germany, there will be two brands available at O2 shops.

Breaking new ground is the message of a new advertising campaign from Telefónica O2 Germany.
The campaign focuses on four key products that embody the company’s ethos of making life easy for customers with clever, simple ideas.
The TV ad follows a motorist stuck in traffic who leaves the rat race behind to walk off on a surreal journey through sand dunes, climbing up houses on a path that represents him breaking new ground.
The advert initially ran from January to March on all major German TV channels as well as in cinemas.
And Telefónica O2 Germany is also running a separate campaign for business customers for the first time.
The campaign centres around the O2 on tariff, a combined flat rate for mobile data use and unlimited phone calls to all German networks.
Telefónica O2 Germany’s Multi-National Corporate (MNC) unit has celebrated two major new contract wins.
The first will see the company provide 10,000 SIM cards in 14 European countries to Celesio, the second biggest pharmaceutical trading and service company in the world.
Telefónica O2 Germany will team up with other Telefónica business units and Telefónica International Wholesale Services to support the contract, which may offer additional scope for growth in South America, China and India.
The second contract win came with the Babelsberg film studios, who will now use Telefónica O2 Germany for all its mobile needs.
The studios, near Berlin, are becoming more and more popular with producers and have played host to filming of leading movies including Inglourious Basterds, Valkyrie and The Pianist.

Telefónica O2 Germany has a new chief information officer, Robert Simmeth.
Robert, who is also managing director, Service Technology, is a 48-year-old qualified physicist and IT specialist.
He brings many years of management experience gained in leading positions in the IT and telecoms sector.
Outlining his ambitious plans for his new role, Robert said: “We need to merge the best and cleverest ideas, products and technologies into one IT.
“This must set new standards in the market and a global IT strategy for Telefónica is essential.”
Telefónica O2 Germany has joined forces with the Pfennigparade Foundation, one of Germany’s biggest rehabilitation centres for the disabled.
The initiative aims to promote and drive forward the recruitment of people with disabilities within Telefónica O2 Germany, ensuring that its workforce is multicultural and socially diverse.
To celebrate the launch of the partnership, Telefónica O2 Germany’s Christmas Card campaign, which saw 50c donated to the foundation for every card sent to business partners and customers, funded the production of a calendar featuring the work of disabled artists.
